September 2009 Wallpaper

For September, I was inspired by the work of Andy Gilmore and created this months wallpaper around the geometric styling of his work.

For the colour scheme, I was looking for a wide spectrum of colours, but was initially looking for neon-like colours for a modern touch – but the cover of my Blade Runner DVD caught my eye, and so I sampled the yellows, blues, reds and oranges from that. Whilst overlaying black horizontal and vertical stripes it created a darker spectrum of colours, so I used brighter colours for the dates.

The font I chose is called Neighbourhood by Andy Chung.

I am very proud that Smashing Magazine chose my design again this month – see their extensive September 2009 wallpapers. As an exclusive for this site, I have created an iPhone specific wallpaper with no calendar:

The wallpaper dimensions in this months zip file are:

  • 1024 x 768
  • 1280 x 1024
  • 1280 x 800
  • 1440 x 900
  • 1680 x 1050
  • 1900 x 1200

Enjoy!

Your September calendar wallpaper is absolutely perfect. For me, backgrounds have to be subtle and not interfere with icons.

Any more months coming? I’d even love to have the September design with an October calendar.

    Have a nice day.

Kevin, thanks ever so much for the comments.

I had planned to create an October wallpaper, but time just ran out with the launch of http://scrunchup.com and the redesign of this site, however I promise to make calendars for November and December.

You can download a wallpaper (without calendar) via Smashing Magazine as it was featured in their calendar post last month: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/08/31/desktop-wallpaper-calendars-for-september-2009/
